On December 10th – 17th, 2023, Epiphany once again held open its doors to those in need of shelter as part of Fairfax County’s Hypothermia Prevention and Response Program administered by FACETS and carried out in partnership with local faith communities across the county.

Program Facts:

  • Over 30 faith communities participate in this effort from November through March each year
  • Guests are provided with not only shelter, but warm food, transportation, and entertainment
  • This is a 100% volunteer effort. We enable the program through the work of dedicated volunteers and donations – monetary, food, and other necessities.
  • During the program, guests can interact with case managers and county healthcare professionals, with the goal of assisting them with rapid rehousing.
  • It takes over 100 volunteers to make one week of the shelter a huge success!

How You Can Help Now and Next Time:

    • Sign up to volunteer: Breakfast, lunch, and dinners are needed for approximately 55+ guests. Volunteers share a meal and conversation at dinner. Join us for pizza and volunteer training. Last year, Suzanne Hough, CVA, Director of Volunteer Engagement at FACETS, led this engaging session. Suzanne spoke with a contagious passion that engaged volunteers and left her listeners energized for the work we are called to do. Stay tuned for opportunities to sign up to volunteer for 2024.
    • Commit to a donation: We need food, personal items, and monetary contributions to serve the needs of our guests. Click here to Donate.
    • Spread the word: Please help us get the word out about this initiative among your community – some of them may want to volunteer or contribute!
